PRODUCT DETAILS

Product Introduction

Elastic yarns are defined as yarns with a high degree of elastic stretch and rapid recovery, capable of elongation of 300-500% while returning quickly to their minimum energy state. They are typically made from fibers like nylon and polyester or incorporate an elastomeric core for enhanced stretch and a fiber-like feel.

Elasticised fabrics

Elastic fabrics have long been used to make sport socks, but the introduction of fine-diameter elastane yarns whose elastic extensibility and recovery can be ‘engineered’ to particular requirements has extended the use of these structures into lingerie and active sports and leisure wear. Elasti- cised fabrics are knitted on high-speed raschel and tricot machines as well as in patterned form on multi guide bar lace machines.

Stretch yarns have a high degree of elastic stretch and rapid recovery and are characterized by a high degree of set curl. A combination of deforming, heat setting, and other treatments is necessary to achieve such high-elastic yarn characteristics. A stretch multifilament yarn has a high amount of filament nonlinearity with minimal, if any, entanglement of the filaments. This allows yarn to be stretched greatly by filaments straightening from curl and then returning rapidly to their minimum energy high entropy configuration. Elongation of the order of 300-500% can be achieved with nearly complete and rapid recovery. The two fibers most widely used in making stretch yarns are nylon and polyester. Yarns with similar or greater elastic stretch can also be produced using an elastomeric thread as the core and wrapping it with a nonstretch textile fiber bundle, filament or staple. These yarns not only have high stretch and recovery but also a fiber-like feel.
